Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment (ACA OEP)

Open Enrollment is available from November 1st to January 15th. To start coverage on January 1st, you must enroll by December 15th. For coverage starting on February 1st, the enrollment deadline is January 15th. We encourage all our clients to review their options every year. By reviewing your options, you are empowering yourself to make an informed decision which could save you money in the new year. If you recently lost coverage and are past your special enrollment period, this OEP is an opportunity to select a plan to start January 1st.

Premium Tax Credit

The Premium Tax Credit is a tax credit that can be applied to lower your monthly insurance payments, known as “premiums,” when you enroll in a plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace®. The amount of tax credit you receive is determined by the income estimate and household information provided in your Marketplace application. You have the option to use all, some, or none of your premium tax credits in advance to decrease your monthly premium costs. If you use more advance payments of the tax credit than you are eligible for based on your final yearly income, you will be required to repay the excess amount when you file your federal income tax return. If you use less premium tax credit than you are eligible for, you will receive the difference as a refundable credit when you file your taxes.

1095-A Form

Every client who qualifies for a premium tax credit will receive their 1095-A form from their insurance provider. This form is needed when you file your income taxes. Call our office at 260-483-2305 if you do not receive your 1095-A form in the mail by January 31, 2025.
