Are you Immunized?
National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) is an annual observance held in August to highlight the importance of vaccination for people of all ages. At Hartman Insurance Services, we want to educate our clients and make sure they know and understand their health insurance plan benefits. We also want to provide information on certain health topics so you can make an informed decision when choosing your health insurance.
As your children, or grandchildren, head back to school this fall, it’s particularly important for you to work with your child’s doctor or nurse to make sure they get caught up on missed well-child visits and recommended vaccines.
Remember to take care of yourself too! Make sure to receive any vaccines you need to stay healthy. Use CDC’s adult vaccine assessment tool to see which vaccines might be right for you.
The CDC also provides vaccine information for individuals living with diabetes called Healthy Living with Diabetes: Getting the Vaccines You Need. Each year, thousands of adults in the United States get sick from diseases that could have been prevented by vaccines. Because diabetes can make it harder for your immune system to fight some infections, you may be at higher risk of getting certain diseases if you are living with diabetes.
Adults can get vaccines at doctors’ offices, pharmacies, workplaces, community health clinics, health departments, and other locations. Most health insurance plans cover the cost of recommended vaccines. Check with your insurance provider for details and for a list of vaccine providers. If you do not have health insurance, please call our office at 260-483-2305 to schedule an appointment with one of our Licensed Agents.
