Cervical Cancer Prevention
January 22 – 28 is Cervical Cancer Prevention Week. At Hartman Insurance Services our goal is to educate you on how your insurance works for you. One way you can take advantage of your insurance benefits is through preventative health screenings. This month we want to draw attention to cervical cancer screening.
The goal of cervical cancer screening—Pap tests and HPV tests—is to find problems, like cell changes, so they can be treated before they turn into cancer. You can request screenings at your Well-Woman Visit with your doctor. You should get your first pap smear at the age of 21, and once every three years after that. At age 30, you should get a pap smear every three years, or a combination HPV test and pap smear once every five years.
